Conversations With The Moon
11 June, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
She is a stranger
To those who love her
They say she lives
In a world all her own
Her thoughts are hidden
Behind a drawn curtain
Her true emotions
Are rarely ever shown
She's a fine dancer
And a good actress
She writes her part
In ev'ry scene she plays
Remaining distant
Stubbornly resistant
To those who try
To lead her heart away
Down in the meadow
I hear the echo
Of her strong voice
Ringing out of the hills
I listen to it's
Resonant music
Burning with a beauty
That gives my soul a chill
And she has
Long conversations with the moon
Private consultations
Well concealed from view
The stars are her companions
She won't waste a secret on you
And she has
Long conversations with the moon

Brenda Michelle (64.12.96.76) -- Tuesday, June 17 2003, 01:15 am this is truely a great work of art, you had a great insperation from you daughters. they should be proud to have a father like you!! Great Job! |
MartinV (67.28.89.12) -- Wednesday, June 18 2003, 09:07 pm Ben, Can't say anymore than what your daughters have let you in on. your a lucky guy and this is a very, fine poetic presentation, Easy to read and and appreciate. May your daughters always be moon-beams in your heart at night and sunrays in the day-light. Excellent touch and use of words, here. Daughters know how to dance within the father's heart, don't they? I'm impressed your heart has eyes to see and can write the vision as words, for all of us to see. You shared a "loving" moment with us, Ben. Thank You MartinV |
cathy perry (67.202.13.243) -- Monday, June 23 2003, 04:42 pm if you hadn't written this for your girls i would have thought that it was for me. :) |
Crimson Angel (12.249.164.87) -- Sunday, June 29 2003, 01:07 pm Another one that reminds me of myself, which I find to be very unnatural. I like to talk to the moon, alot, it gives me comfort, for I cannot talk to anyone else, really. Nice job, keep writing. |

Pamela (66.38.146.116) -- Friday, September 19 2003, 05:11 pm After reading this poem, I have a whole new perspective on the moon, stars, and sun.....even if I take something different from it than you meant. What a wonderful and picturesque description of the relationships going on in the sky that we cannot defy. I'm going to go read some more of your poems now Ben :O) |
