The Soldier
29 June, 2004
Author: Mark Spencer
On and on the Soldier fights,
Through the crimson gates of hell.
Forging the rivers of blood,
Upon this field where they fell.
Another of His comrades
Hangs limp over His shoulder.
One more soul pulled from the pit,
His actions, growing bolder.
The enemy was ready,
Quite prepared for His return.
Yet He breached their defenses,
Thwarting them at every turn.
One by one, He pulls them out,
The enemy on His heels.
He carries souls to safety,
Freeing them from their ordeals.
He hears a voice call his name,
And without hesitation,
He returns to the war zone,
To offer His salvation.
Another soul to rescue,
On that battlefield, now waits,
Far behind enemy lines,
And beyond Hell’s crimson gates.
No obstacle blocks His path,
Even Hell can’t keep Him out.
If you call Him, He will come,
On that fact, there is no doubt.
This hero does His duty,
Through the blood soaked mire He’ll plod,
He is salvation’s soldier,
For He is the Son of God.
