Stillness
22 July, 2004
Author: Capricorn
You arrived today,
early --
and breathless.
A tiny, motionless gift.
You were to flood my life
with warmth;
now the coldness
numbs me.
Your crib is empty
like my womb.
I glimpsed you briefly --
longed to cradle your fragility,
sing lullabies
and simply love you;
they hurried you away
with a slice of my soul.
The blanket
that once shrouded you
exudes your essence.
My comfort blanket now.
Congratulatory bouquets
have been exchanged
for funereal wreaths.
Life resounds with --
silence.

barb (209.112.22.242) -- Friday, July 23 2004, 01:04 am you reminding us of what others go through makes our problems seem so silly. So you are getting your name out there.When you are famous, remember us struggling poets.:) Very nice cap and congratulations. |
Capricorn (82.36.129.85) -- Friday, July 23 2004, 03:22 pm Ha ha!! I think it will take more than one poem to make me famous. If I ever will it will probably be after my days here -- like most artists. I think I'll always be struggling... like evryone else --haha!! |
Martin Vann (63.185.80.210) -- Friday, July 23 2004, 04:57 pm Cap, I read this as a part of so many, women's hearts and I feel for them, as best, a man can. She lies there, all alone, not the way she thought it would be. No sweetness, at her breast, no sound at all, this was not the way, it was ment to be. then, in her sadness, she looks up, sees more than a wall, over head, she sees her baby, laughing and smiles, as she sees her baby, being held, in God's arms. Cap, you have always been honored, by all of us, whom with, you have shared your heart. -MartinV |
