Take Away The Brink
3 August, 2004
Author: Shan
I'm diminishing the bottle until its finished demolishing me
If there's a drip in it, I'm sipping until I've polished it clean
I swallow every drop until I get down to the bottom
I smash the glass to get the last drip that the bottle has in it to have
That's when I snap and dip my pen in the pad
I look at what I have written on the back of this label of Jack
I take another sip, I'm dripping ink
I'm spilling all that's in me to have
I throw my glass in the sink
Rip the paper in half and toss it in the trash
I'm an addict who's lost at the edge of a brink, without a savior to grab
This is, just to say, another day that I've lost all the will that I thought I had
With every word I write, I break to face the night without basting in a drink
I'm not wasting breath, I'm breaking death before my fall
I'm taking away my alcohol
