The Ice Butterflies
8 August, 2004
Author: ShadowGallantmon
Go out on this winter morn and listen to the air.
Try to see the winter crystals glisten without care.
Open up your ears to hear the gentle ices chime,
And sense the frigid frost that stands forever throughout time.
Now your eyes should fix upon an endless sea of gray,
Remnants of a fabled night that never found its day.
And underneath that ocean will you find the endless glow
Of a blanket bright as starlight made entirely of snow.
Swimming through the frozen air like dolphins in the sky
Are the angel’s gift to man, the frozen butterflies.
See them soaring all around, chanting songs of love,
Listen to them whisper all their secrets from above.
Their wings are glittered with a splash of icy winter blue.
Their unique designs ensure you’ll never find the same in two.
As they glisten, ever swiftly, ever calmly too,
They pass their happy winter tidings from themselves to you.
Legend has it every year these butterflies take flight,
Bringing with them winter cheer and endless crystal night.
So in memory of their beauty, to keep with you year long,
I leave you with this symbol of their never-ending song.
May they always bring you bliss and take away your fear,
And may with it they come to see you each and every year.
