Like A Mime

Like a mime I place my hands on a wall that isn't there
Yet it keeps me restrained as everyone walks by without a care
My hands fumble aimlessly searching for a way to escape
Periodically returning to wipe away the tears that lay among my face
Like a mime I attempt to climb a ladder that truly does not exist
Everyone watches me as though I'm crazy without bothering to assist
My feet stumble in the air searching hopelessly for an escape
Periodically pausing hoping I'll realize I'm not thinking straight
Like a mime I scream but my voice just swims silently throughout the air
My cries go unheard simply because nobody cares
My mouth struggles so hard to create audible words
Periodically pausing losing all hope that I'll be heard
But, unlike a mime I give up and collapse to the ground fiercely
But nobody cares they're just angry to have to walk around me
I struggled so hard to just hang on - to life and to hope
Now forever pausing knowing it's what I need I'll never know
