Have you ever
had to rush to a code?
to perform CPR
on someone so frail?
have you ever felt the cracking of ribs
at the palm of your hand?

have you ever had your tears freeze on you
as you witness a child flying in the air after two vehicles collide?

have you ever found it difficult to comfort someone
whoms child didn't survive childbirth?
and had to swaddle that newborn
and hand it to it's mom, per her request?

have you ever confronted death face to face
many times on the street on your way to work?
have you ever seen a teenager tossed from a car
after being shot in the head in front of E.R?

have you ever had to hold on to a bleeding mom
whom was stabbed during a domestic dispute?
have you ever followed a trail of blood
and didn't like the scene?

have you ever had to wipe the tears of a child
whom was brutally raped?
have you ever gotten so close to someone
only to learn that they were given a short time to live?

have you ever felt like giving up
after seeing so much suffering
in your job and around your life?
I have..
many many times..
i've even questioned my heart

BUT..

as much as I hurt
from seeing it all
God needs me where I am
that’s in his plans
as he stands by
closely watching
many others just like me...

Sarah A, , i apologize the shivers you felt..
but... i am also glad you were able to feel my feelings..many of sadness that comes along w/my profession...my biggest reward as sad as i may be ,is holding someones hand so they will not exit life alone...thank you for appreciating life.....
