these words written only for you
because to anyone else they may not mean a thing
because you are no longer here
they may not understand

I spill each word out of my heart
I woke up this mornin'
lt never fails I have them every time
with thoughts of you

and of how much I truly loved you
as I pray to God
that my love was enough for you

I have spent almost a life time so it seems
since you went away
being alone and chasing your ghost
my perfect love

I never stopped crying
cause I never really tried
I drained more of my tears a long while back
when I removed my wedding band

that you once placed on me
I slipped it into your pocket
as I took yours in my hand
your love I will never see
but I know I will feel it deep inside of me

I know in my heart you will forever be
as I placed my engagement ring
where my wedding band was
the symbol of your love
that you had for me

loving a heart that is not by my side
may be difficult for some to understand
but I still feel your touch
upon my hands and heart
when trouble hits my life
then tears flow heavily
as I drive away
