Sometimes life is not what we expected
We think we know where we are going
Then life opens a door
Just a crack
Just enough to see beyond.
Life lets us glimpse
A possible tomorrow,
But try as we might
The door won't budge
And what lies beyond
Stays painfully out of reach.

Sometimes life lets us through that door
But holds us back
Letting us taste
A possible future
Without letting us experience
The true joy
That future could bring.
Then slowly
But surely
You find you are once more
Outside that door
Watching it close.

Sometimes life is not as strong as it was
The glimpse it offers
Giving us strength
Determination
To take the opportunities
To seize the moments
And we can change
Our own path.
Then once again
While on that path
Life opens a new door
Just a crack
Just enough to see beyond.
Life lets us glimpse
Another possible tomorrow..

Brian V, i enjoyed your poem..it was excellent..it is true that life is never what we expect,life is always challenging , always changing it never stands still, there are always curves with blindspots that prevent us to see beyond.. we determine what we will do when life makes those turns for us we can steer them in the direction we want , we choose where we want to go..and yes there will always be an unseen obstacle that will pop up ...and again we have the option to take control, bend our own rules break them or make them. we write the final chapter to our success...if not we suffer the consequence...very well written. keep writing ang keep them posted...Terrie

Life can be a swinging door, not always a party, sometimes just a small crack, enough to let us see just a little of the other side.
