A Letter To Texas
15 September, 2004
Author: Ben Laney
A billion stars are burning bright
on the Panhandle tonight
a beautiful moon is climbing high
And though I really do love this view
Darling I sure am missing you
Please don't forget to remember to write
Send me
a letter to Texas
Send me
a letter today
Send me
a letter to Texas
Send me
a letter from far away
In Arizona just passed Flagstaff
I pulled over and took a nap
then I woke up and drove till I got here
Yes I brought you with me in my heart
still I don't like this being apart
and I'm hoping mail from you will appear
My old car made it here just fine
I didn't break down not one time
and that long road was dry all the way
Now looking back across the miles
I long for your laughter and smiles
and I'd sure like to know that you're okay
Send me
a letter to Texas
Send me
a letter today
Send me
a letter to Texas
Send me
a letter from far away
Send me
a letter oh Baby
Send me
a letter now honey
Send me
a letter sweet sugar
Send me
a letter to Texas
Send me
a letter from far away
------- Author's Notes -------
Well, it would appear that once again Texas has jumped into my writing with a moment's notice. If you read between the lines you will hear a south-bound train rolling on the outskirts of Amarillo and a few coyotes singing out their lonesome tune under that big, yellow moon that's sailing through the sky in this one. Also, you might picture the trails of shooting stars blazing like burning diamonds through that BIG, velvet night. |

I do know that you've got a soft spot for Texas, as many of us do. It is always in my heart and under my hat, as you said. Thanks soooo much for your encouraging words, oh QUAZY one, they really are appreciated very much. I am happy that you enjoyed this one! Best Regards from yer ol' wild and wooly WACKY sidekick, Ben |
barb (209.112.22.55) -- Thursday, September 16 2004, 03:41 am The way you describe things is remarkable. Ii feel like Ii know what you are talking about Texas. Never been there but you make it sound so inviting. You'd make a good PR for Texas.( PR is Public Relations) in case anybody wants to know what PR means. |
Ben Laney (68.127.168.143) -- Thursday, September 16 2004, 05:30 pm Barb, Texas should pay me lots and lots of MONEY, I agree, girlfriend. I do enjoy the beauty of that part of this vast land, and I'm sure I've got a few more about Texas in me that are yet to come. With that said, I want to thank you very much for your "remarkable" comment, I really do appreciate it. And, should you decide to make it out to Texas, I hope you can do it when the bluebonnets are in full bloom and there is a full moon in that velvet sky! Hey, you may even see me out there listening to the coyotes singing on the plains. Thanks again! Best Regards, Ben |
