A Little Monarch
11 October, 2004
Author: Pondering Red
A little monarch
flutters along,
lands on bright
patches of flowers.
She lets me photograph her.
- gives a good chase-
Startled at first,
by the click of the camera,
her wings pull together-
She twitches and swoops like a wild kite.
Yet,I find her easily.
She does not leave the fenced in yard.
flying from one flower patch to another.
And I follow -
And it's as if she wants me follow.
posing -reposing.
With every click of the shutter
her wings spread wider-
her confidence seems to grow.
Yet what of these moments,
running after this little butterfly ?
She - nervous - radiant -dignified-
queen of the yard.
And I -I am just trying to get a good picture ?
