An Unknown Destination
13 October, 2004
Author: Mark Spencer
A man believes in Heaven, in Jesus and things divine.
His faith does not depend on, God sending him a sign.
He lives his life devoted to doing what is right,
And when his life has ended, he will see Heaven’s light.
He did all he could to help others find salvation.
Deeds which insured that he would know his destination.
Another man accepts God, saying he can hear His voice.
He tells the ones who listen, to let him make their choice.
He claims to follow God, while preaching judgment and hate.
Teachings that will lead this man, to Hell’s eternal fate.
The one who uses God in seeking admiration,
Understands his choices and knows his destination.
Yet another man believes Heaven is just a myth.
If God sends him a sign, he dismisses it forthwith.
If one speaks of Jesus, he derides them with a shout.
So when his life is over, his light will flicker out.
If that man does not believe in Heaven or Creation,
He cannot find his way to an unknown destination.
And finally the good man, who lives a godly life.
But says there is no Heaven, to lift us from this strife.
He does unto others, as the Lord asks of us all.
But says darkness awaits us the moment that we fall.
He doesn’t believe in Heaven, and won’t know its location.
He’ll never find the path to an unknown destination.
