My Non-stop Halloween
24 October, 2004
Author: Ben Franklin
Halloween comes around once a year,
but for me everyday I live in
fear,
Daddy shouting and swearing
at Mummy,
Mummy not finding it funny.
This morning she had a new bruise on her
face,
tells me she 'fell',
as she ties my lace.
My Daddy shows me love,
but he never gives Mummy a kiss or
hug,
After every row he breaks down and
cries,
I maybe seven
but I have ears and eyes.
Last night I walked into the front room
to find his hands around her neck,
then gave her a punch,
and I watched her fall to the
deck,
as I screamed daddy turned around
and said in a innocent tone...
'Mummy was naughty
and daddy had to tell her off',
I started to cry
and pulled away from his so called loving touch,
'It's ok baby, you dont need to be scared of me',
I tried to run to the front door,
but of course Daddy was quicker then me,
He grabbed me by my arm and said..
'you will get what your mother got
if you tell what you have seen'.
I dont know why my Daddy is being so
mean,
but to all the other children
I hope you have a Lovely
Halloween.

joyce ivy (68.222.91.40) -- Wednesday, October 27 2004, 06:26 pm behind these doors you never know just what one person can show.. heartaches for all to see but never again will it be me... for i take my stand in this life never again will he bring me strife... for my life is mine, and mine alone all his pain i will not condone... nor will my children have to watch me, as i shudder, under his knee... we are happy without him here now our lives we hold so dear. There is alot of this in the world and it's sad...people have to stand up for themselves as I did...never to shudder in under anyones knees...life is to short...to live that way...but most of all it is sad for the children who have to live through it..and walk on the eggshells... caused by one person...I think this is a subject that sould be touched on..glad you wrote this poem...just sorry if you had to live through it... joyce |

Anthony Wright (amwright) (66.53.12.85) -- Friday, November 19 2004, 05:39 am It bothers me when adults go around and talk about being victims, especially when their own choices resulted in their victimhood. Children, on the otherhand, are usually innocent victims. I too was a child advocate, and attorney for the abused and neglected children of Las Vegas. A lot of the abuse and neglect came after they were taken from their families and placed in the system. Some poor little victims have to just live victimhood day in and day out. Wish more people knew the truth your poem speaks and would proactively do something about it. I was a child attorney and look forward to the opportunity to do more for children as my legal career takes off. |
