Memories

Author: Capricorn
That little Puppy on the farm
won my heart with her lively charm.
Bright red collar and matching lead
they made the farmer laugh indeed.
Growing up and running round
tearing turf up, out of the ground.
Rounding the children up to bed
pretending they were sheep instead.
Begging up when there's food around
tapping your paw hard on the ground.
Barking loud when a job's not done
watching o'er us till setting sun.
Becoming old and getting grey
hoping you live long anyway.
Fast asleep beside my bed
I touch your ear, stroke your head.
Finding out that the end is near
I cannot help but shed a tear.
Time's so precious from then on
knowing that you won't live long.
Hearts become heavy till the end
death was near we couldn't pretend
I didn't want my friend to die
but stll I had to say goodbye.
In my life there's an empty space,
memories I can often trace.
Memories make me smile or cry,
remembering a time gone by.

Martin Vam (67.28.88.149) -- Thursday, March 6 2003, 04:51 pm Cap, I know exactly, how you feel. Been through it a couple of times. My little guy's name is Toby, cute as he can be. He knows when its time to eat, and if he's not fed on time, this little guy STOMPS his little padded feet. I know the day will come, and I can't help think about it. Especially, when he's curled up in my arms. Yes, I love this poem, a Tribute to a loving friend. Thanks Cap. MartinV |

Very nice poem again Cap, I really like this one and remembering my "Casper" Samoyed. Thanks so much. |
