You'll Always Be My Daddy
1 November, 2004
Author: Emilee
When I was a little girl with blonde pigtails,
you put a softball cap on my head.
I grew up to love your world,
but I loved the game even less.
In middle school I got cut from the team,
I thought you'd be mad, but you just held me,
while I cried.
Even though I may strike out,
even if I win.
I may learn to fly away,
or let this game come to an end.
We will have our ups and downs,
but there's one thing that makes me happy.
In the end, you'll always be my daddy.
I went trick or treating,
until I was fourteen.
I knew it would make you happy,
so I did faithfully.
And I still hold your hand,
sometimes when I get scared.
And it brings a smile to your face,
when I say, "I love you, dad."
Even though I'm growing up,
even though we fight.
I'll always be your babygirl,
and you know it's right.
We may have our ups and downs,
but the thing that make me happy,
is in the end, you'll always be my daddy.
One day he'll walk me down the aisle,
he will finally have to let me go.
But I know he will have to smile,
when I say, "Dad, you'll always be my hero."
And if ever you're not with me,
to help me win this fight.
I know that you will always be,
the biggest part of my life.
Cuz in the end, you'll always be
My daddy.
