Black Velvet And Diamonds

I tiptoe to the window
on a dark winter's night.
My heart is warmed
by a beautiful sight.
The sky is riven
with a twinkle of stars,
black velvet studded
with diamonds afar.
Moon stands attention
guardian of the night,
a torch in the darkness
with its guiding light.
I go to my dreams
knowing when I awake,
the moon and the stars
their slumber will take.
Then up in the sky
with its fiery glow,
stands the guardian sun
thawing out winters snow.
The touch of his hands
will warm up my heart.
I long for black velvet
and the twinkling to start.
When darkness returns
I look out at the night.
Diamond studded velvet,
what a beautiful sight!
