10,000 Miles
18 November, 2004
Author: Toni D
It's a hard truth
but nothing to cry over
and it's a struggle
to strain to forget
the distance from then to now
10,000 miles
miles of memories stacked real high
trash and treasure
a child's cry
10,000 miles
miles that turn and bend
and twist me in
push me, pull me
and push me again
miles that are worn and weathered
from losing my coat
10,000 miles with him at my throat
I can't run
I face it head on
and I don't look down
I stare him in the face
and still wear my crown
Got what I need
to get as faraway as I can
They asked why I never said anything
I said I ran
It's a hard truth
but nothing to run from
it's a hard struggle
sometimes alone but
10,000 miles
of fake laughs
and fake smiles
still sends a chill
down to the bone
