Memories Old

I reach out at everything I once knew
But I don't grab hold of it all
My fingernails barely scratch the surface
...Scratched memories...
And I don't realize I'm scarring my old life by attempting to find it.
...A scarred life grown old...
I scream out for everything I once knew
But my voice doesn't reach the ears of it all
My screams just echo off the wall of memories old
...Echoed attempts...
And I don't realize I'm deafening myself by attempting to have my past hear me
...Deaf ears from deaf memories...
And I turn away
I realize I'm only causing myself more pain
Scarring my memories
Deafening my past
So I turn away
Towards this
...This life I must now accept
I turn, giving in
