Soldiers Christmas
11 December, 2004
Author: Tricia
Christmas Eve songs and joy are heard around the camp.
Merry Christmas to all.
He sits quietly waiting for the phone while
thinking about what his wife and newborn may
be doing right now.
His baby girls first Christmas
and hes not there to see her and hold her.
His turn for the phones.
He waits one, two, three rings,
then the sweetest voice he ever heard.
Merry Chrismas.
Merry Christmas my darling girls.
Silence fell upon the phone lines.
Then dadda is what he heard.
Tears broke from his eye.
His baby girl spoke to him.
This was the greatest Christmas of all.
Although thousands of miles away and yet our hearts have touched.
His daughter, his first born, knew who he was.
His baby knew his voice and called him dadda.
He knew he would make it home to see her soon.
And that no other Christmas would be this great.
