Chalet Baptised With Snow
20 December, 2004
Author: J Freedom Long
Winds blow whirling
dervish of snow
from my window view.
Sea waves churning
and fast dancing
for white caps anew.
High in Swiss Alps
a new chalet
was born long ago.
Rooftop gathered
white caps and weight,
collecting wet snow.
'Till big logs merge,
hear magic clicks
and clunks...domino.
Celebrate.....
a new chalet
baptised with snow!
------- Author's Notes -------
Watching it snow from my window along the sea coast this morning and recalling how new chalets in Switzerland weren't official until enough snow had collected on the rooftops to make those logs go clink and clunk sealing up that chalet and cause for a big celebration. |
