True Love Defined -in Process

The Professor of Poetry
pushed paper and pen at me.
"Define true love and all
of those things it might be?"
I pondered and pondered
and smiled
to know.
Love has different words
for two lovers in their garden
to grow.

"I love, I adore, I cherish, appreciate, respect,
trust, commit, soul mate, play mate, best mate,
one smile, one touch, one look, never apart?"

Searching for true words cannot define,
words common for True Love divine?
As dancers in Love know partner's
steps before.....each stepping time.

I returned page blank to then say:
"What is true love for her and me,
has different words for she and thee."

The professor looked puzzled
then leaped with glee:
"Yes....I understand and now can see!
True love means personal true
words each lover knows true to be."

------- Author's Notes -------

A poem that seems to be... ever in process...inspired during a luncheon once with a poetry professor... realizing true love has different words for different minds and different private emotions and acts. He placed my blank page on the board in front of the classroom as a lesson...... in poetry. And I persist to find those uncommon words to fit uncommon dream realities about..... true love.

True Love?

That eternal question that as you say means so much,
A life time I've lived and ask once again,
I love you my wife in so many ways,
can you tell me just one way you love me?

Great thoughts Jerry
like all your words..

astonishing piece..your pen burns words so deep
so true..true love differs to many of us..we feel it's challenging sensation make way into our hearts by way of our soul..love explodes many feelings within ones soul...that radiates far and beyond without any regrets, yet love cuts real deep when lost in death..
