Happier Child

No one cares.. nobody asks..
she just must be crazy.. thats just how she acts..
But the cuts on her arm, tell a story each one..
They give out a hint that her life wasn't fun.
Her mom.. a prostitue.. her dad a drunk...
Her brother raped her.. and he would never stop...
She only has friends.. a knife and some pills..
They tell her that she has no reason to be afraid..
No midnight thrills...
the sexual abuse carried on until she was 10..
But who knows? It could always happen again..
Now she is happy, or so she has said.
One day she is smiling, the next her expression is dead.
She has called me crying, talkng about her dad..
I guess I'll never know how she feels.. Just how bad..
She had foster parents, she was never was alone..
She sits on her bed.. she stares at the phone..
She calls out the name as she cuts her last time...
She has and will always be on our minds...
She has now moved away.. or so they have said..
We all feel it inside that she could very well be dead...
but we all know what she wanted in life..
She asked god every night for just an attempt for this strife..
But what she really wants was her child hood back..
She never had time to grow...
Now she wears black..
As depressed as she seams, you will always see her smile...
The smile of unfolding imaginations, of a happier child.

------- Author's Notes -------

This poem was to my friend.. I do not want to reveal her name... But we all miss her and love her so much, She was like my sister.. We never hung out much.. Because of her Foster parent's dis-like of me.. But i know some how, I'll find her.. Wheather it's when I'm dead.. or while I'm still walking on this earth..
