Time To Let Go

Each passing night I stay awake and wonder
What would it be like if I were to achieve?
Would people still say I mean nothing,
Can never make anything of myself?

I'm I really that unworthy
That I'm not allowed to dream through the night?
Do I have to stay in the dark
Until morning light arrives?

Am I not just like everyone else?
Do I not breathe the same air you breathe?
Why should you be allowed to dream
When you keep me hidden away, out of site.

I deserve to be treated better
By you and everyone else.
I need to grow up, you have to let me go.
I want to spread my wings and see new things.
You can't keep me at home forever.

It's time you understand I need to go.
But you need to know I will be back.
I wont disappear out througH that door,
For you to never see me again.

I just want what everyone else has.
I want to achieve.
I want to believe
I want to better myself.
So please, don't stop me.

Thank you for reading my poem. I have always enjoyed reading them, and just wondered what it would be like to write my own. I must admit, I enjoyed it. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my poem :)

of course you can ((smiles))

The joy of flying, the joy of standing on your own two feet, the joy of fresh air, the joy of independence! I'm in the same boat, on the same page with you Sarah*! Very good writing! Good job on expressing your emotions! I was looking at your author's notes, and I smiled. I remember my first attempt at a poem. You're doing wonderful. Very good for the 1st time!

Good Job

I think you did great and some of what you said really hits home. If this is a true poem about your life I really do hope you go on and become someone. I also like the questions you added in it made your poem come to life. I can't wait to read what you come out with next. Good Job!!!

Meri and Sharita

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my poem. Yes it is a true poem. I thought that it would be easier to write about something real rather than trying to make something up. One day I will get out and make something of myself, but for now, I just have to do it this way. thanks for the comments. :)
