Time To Let Go

Each passing night I stay awake and wonder
What would it be like if I were to achieve?
Would people still say I mean nothing,
Can never make anything of myself?
I'm I really that unworthy
That I'm not allowed to dream through the night?
Do I have to stay in the dark
Until morning light arrives?
Am I not just like everyone else?
Do I not breathe the same air you breathe?
Why should you be allowed to dream
When you keep me hidden away, out of site.
I deserve to be treated better
By you and everyone else.
I need to grow up, you have to let me go.
I want to spread my wings and see new things.
You can't keep me at home forever.
It's time you understand I need to go.
But you need to know I will be back.
I wont disappear out througH that door,
For you to never see me again.
I just want what everyone else has.
I want to achieve.
I want to believe
I want to better myself.
So please, don't stop me.

This is my first attepmt at a poem. I have read a few on this site already, and have seen how great you all are. I hope one day with practice I can write as well as you all. |

I thought that it would be easier to write about something real rather than trying to make something up.
