Twenty-four Secrets
6 January, 2005
Author: Your Melody
You gave me the world in the palm of my hand
A necklace sent across the miles
A promise lost like a grain of sand.
3 candles, 4 candles, 5 candles, 6
Christmas, birthdays, and summers forgotten
Another wound you couldn't fix.
The tide rushed in
and took my worries
As you held me close and I looked within.
I turn to the sky
for my answers now
a moment that passed and flew right by.
Yesterday the radio played our song,
Just as I was forgetting you then
I heard myself admit we were wrong.
Strange things happen at 11:11
the world comes to a hault
and little boys turn into men.
This isn't who I want to be
Not now, not tomorrow, not ever again
I want to be safe and happy and able to fly free.
But with 24 secrets inside
My world is darker than it used to be
