You Have It Over
7 January, 2005
Author: Francis Santaquilani
You have it over
Eagles and hawks,
You shot straight up
Our bluff, without
Talons or wings.
You have it over
Jaguars and tigers,
You sliced through
Our jungle, without
Eyes and claws.
You have it over
Sharks and pirates,
You found
Our island, without
A compass or blood trails.
You have it over
The moon,
You neatly block our sun
Wherever we are, without
A messy eclipse.
