Prisoner
14 January, 2005
Author: Eryemil
Worlds away within your hands,
Locked away under watchful jealousy;
Lies a heart that once loved you as no other,
But has been broken under careless insecurity.
Day by day the imprisoned heart is dying,
Shying away from the touch that long ago sustained it,
The heart becomes cold without a hand to warm it,
The heart turns hateful by unneeded pressure.
Yet worlds away can feel so close if by,
Some chance of life that heart was once your own,
The pain is there, though your heart is not,
Even as he holds it, you can feel it cry.
Oh heart of mine return to me!
Can’t you feel the pain his love has caused?
Poor trusting heart, love shall be you death;
You will die alone within his grasp, and I with you.
And with us will die the memory of his love…
