Let Them Go

Author: Dimples
There will be a time
When you need to say goodbye
And hard as it may be
You must be strong, you need to try
Though tears may fall,
Don’t lose hope, take heart
Rest in the peace that they
Are still close and will never be far
We’ve got to let them go
Knowing that they are with God
And that they are safe
And are watching over us with love
It may feel like forever,
But in time we will all be together
And for now carry on living
With the knowledge of that treasure
The light from their lives
Will shine on us for years to come
They left a legend, taught us all so much
Brightened our lives with their sense of fun
Nothing can take them away from us
They are near, living with God as one
Their thoughts, opinions and zeal for life
Have inspired us, and their legacy will live on

I wrote this poem for the parents and family of Belinda and Andrew Welch who were killed in the Tsunami recently. they were on holiday in Thailand, staying in Khao Lak when the tsunami hit. they are among the 6 New Zealand citizens who were killed or missing. they were incredible people, who were thinking of starting an orphanage in Thailand. |
