The Butterfly
20 January, 2005
Author: Dimples
As the sun yawns
And stretches its rays out
Lighting a brand new day
So does the butterfly
Emerging from its chrysalis
Beginning again
As a new creature
Stretching out its wings
Soaking in the sun
A timid twitch
And the butterfly
Begins its new life
Broadening its delicate wings
It starts to fly
Up, up
To the sun
Leaving its old self behind
All evidence of its past life
Starting anew,
The butterfly begins toward
The sky.
------- Author's Notes -------
i wrote this at a time when i was struggling with just waking up each morning to start a new day. writing this inspired me to see each new day, not as an inconqurable obstacle, but as a fresh chance. change is good. |
