What's Wrong With Me?

You point at me and giggle
Nudge your friends and stare
What’s wrong with me? I wonder
As you fix me with a glare
What made you single me out?
As the object of your hate
Or is this mockery
All part of my unkind fate?
What’s wrong with me?
Is it my hair, or maybe my choice of clothes?
Is it my glasses, or could it be my shoes?
Or is it because I have a pierced nose?
Is it that I’m in the chess club?
Or is it my large feet?
Is it my grades, (I get straight A’s)
Or that to get them I don’t cheat?
Is it because I do my homework
And raise my hand in class?
Is it that my friends aren’t popular?
Or my uncertain past?
Is the reason that I’m really tall?
Maybe my fingernails are too bitten
Is it my schoolbag- because it’s green?
Or coz I don’t fit in?
Could it be that I smell awful?
Is that why you’re cruel behind my back?
Or could it be you’re racist
And hate me because I’m black?

im not acutally black, but i have been judged unfairly before and i think racism is the most noticable form of unjust judgement, so i wrote about that instead |
