My Last Breath
22 January, 2005
Author: Shadaan
Slowly closing my eyes,
I lie on my bed.
Sweet memories linger
In my fever-stricken head.
Memories of my days,
Old and new.
Memories of my childhood
And when,into a lady,I grew.
Memories of my days
With my little family.
Memories of my days
Bright and gay,
Like the sun.
Of the days,
When with my family,
I used to have fun.
These memories rush past me,
Whirl around me.
In the darkness of my closed eyes,
These memories,I can see.
Arms of death embrace me.
This is my last day.
So many words,
I want to say.
Words of kindness,
Words of forgiveness,
Words of apologies
And of thankfulness.
But,my tongue is tied.
Tied with the chains of death.
All I can say is 'Good bye'
As I breathe my last breath.
