On The Bus Again
25 January, 2005
Author: Pondering Red
Another day-
a pale blue sky emerging-
reprieve from a week of grey.
slush on sidewalks.
slushy puddles on corners.
white patches here and there.
bus coming down the hill.
many backpacks squeeze by each other,
at times with a vengeance.
mostly black coats and jackets
slide by
to get seats.
to get past other bulging backpacks.
a toaster oven bus-
some droplets of perspiration erupt
from my forehead.
one window is opened a tiny sliver.
coats and backpacks
squeeze off.
bus stops and goes
and scenery zigzags.
next seat up - a man coughs-
annoying rhythmic dry cough.
i struggle to rip off
my mile long scarf.
just too hot-
planning my move
to squeeze off at the next stop,
to catch yet
another bus...
just one of the many
back packs in a black coat...
