Freedom’s Room by ShyHeart

As I stepped in side my room, closed the door, set down, pulled off my boots, Threw them on the floor,
I said to myself, it’s so, good to be home, from the oil field.
Then I laid my worn body down, on the cot, I bought, from a surplus store
Then I saw, all those bills, laying on the floor,
how do they find me, thought I paid them all,
some thing’s, never change, even when you say, good-bye.

Getting hungry now, look into my ice-chest, see, some bologna and cheese
Then I reach for some bread, once again, the rats, ate every crumb, so, I’ll
Just have, some bologna and cheese tonight, that’s okay with me
At least, I am free, and I have this room, all to myself
Have a mirror on the wall, and as I try to wash my face, all I see, is myself

Then, I remember, the words, she said to me, If you don’t stop this drinkin
You will end up by your self in some lonely room, all by yourself, and the
Best friend you will have, is that guy, from down the hall, that knocks, on your
Door, and says, Hi friend, see you are home, can you spare a drink, for your old friend?

Then, I heard, a knock at my door, some old guy, who called me his friend
I said, I don’t even know you, he smiled and said, well, I know you, then I closed The door,
and I could hear, him, knocking on every door on his way back…,
To “Freedom’s Room.”

Then, I woke up, felt the silk, of the sheets, that laid over me, then I heard
Her say, Hey or you going to sleep all day? We have a soccer game at 10;A.M
We also have to be at our daughters, recital, after all we paid. I think we need
To hear her play the piano, now, get your sweet butt, out of bed. I smiled, to myself,
Got out of bed, and upon my knees, I thanked God, for all, He gave me.

Freedom is what he gives to us ...
when we have faith...or when another restores that faith in us.....by sharing his with us....very touching ...you know the words i want to share....thank you sooo much...for these fulfilling words.....
