The Dog Pound
6 February, 2005
Author: Bryon D Howell
They say that love is dog eat dog, it’s true.
The big ones seem to get the upper hand.
The small ones must protect the bit they chew,
if they’re caught eating, oh the reprimand!
The big hounds woof and bark and have no tact.
At least the smaller ones have class and style.
In love the big ones don’t know how to act,
the small ones wince and blink and make me smile.
The big boys have a problem with their breath.
Most of the time it smells much like the rear.
A big dog opens wide it’s certain death,
a small one can’t exhale that much air!
The large mutts want a bone or better; meat,
yet rub a small pup’s ears, his life’s complete!

Meridian (205.188.116.197) -- Sunday, February 6 2005, 09:02 pm Dogs! Dogs give me a fright! I think I have dog phobia! Not until I see that they aren't that dangerous, do I put my trust in "man's best friend". But I like your comparison-contrast poem between bigger and smaller breeds of dogs. Very lovely Byron!
