The Lady Of The Lake
22 February, 2005
Author: Mike
Silver beams spread upon the lake,
Awaiting my fair maiden from her slumber to wake.
A few choice words, a rhyme from my tongue
And she'll be mine 'til the rise of the sun.
"Fair lady who lives in the sea,
Come out, show yourself to me!
With this knife I call to thee,
Our blood as one can run freely!"
The lake tears apart, forms two watery walls,
In their midst a figure stands tall.
Fair of hair, pale of face.
Her crimson lips,
Oh Lord, if only I could taste...
"Faithful followers, I thank thee.
I bestow upon you the gift of my beauty,
In exchange for sacrifice!
Whipping and cutting, your lifeblood shall run.
Appease my appetite or forever be gone!"
Purple sparks soar into the sky
Shot from hands which can purify
Even the most blackened soul
But also cause your blood to run cold.
"Out with the whips! Out with the chains!
Bring on the torture! Bring on the pain!
There is evil coursing through your veins,
Drink thy blood and cleanse thy name!"
The sky burns red, as red as blood.
Orange streaks over the lake, over the flood.
Thrashing and writhing, the pale lady moves.
All the while her followers' voices soothe.
A shout, a scream. Silence.
A sudden roaring, crashing wave. Silence.
As fast as she came the fair maiden left.
The lady of the lake had returned to her slumber.
Silence.
