Captive Bred
28 February, 2005
Author: Capricorn
We watch, wide-eyed
with fascination
the beasts that pace
inside their cages
Lush jungles were swapped
for acres of concrete.
New birthrights insure
captive creatures
never prowl for prey
through hunger.
No predator will stalk
to devour them,
and rip flesh from bones.
Their unique beauty
is photographed and painted
-- exhibits behind bars.

Meridian (172.162.112.233) -- Monday, February 28 2005, 10:41 pm Hey there! Not trying to sound mean, but I think behind bars is a good place for any animal. Of course, if you're an owner, I'm not leaning towards treating them cruelly or anything like that. But of course, take them out, BUT ON A LEASH! I have dog, cat, or whatever animal phobia! Tie em up, do something! Hahaha. But I do support the fact of letting animals out for fresh air, some food, play time, or etc. because they deserve it! Hopefully I didn't misinterpret your poem! Good writing Cap! The only time I want to see an animal is on TV on Animal Planet! Just messing! *Meri* |
