To My Dad
12 June, 2000
Author: Christa
When I was just a little girl
only 9 or 10
I dreamt of when I would be "big"
and how much fun I would have then
I couldn't wait to drive a car
all over late at night
Or go to see 'R' rated movies
while having popcorn fights
Yet you say that I'm no longer
just a little girl
But I'm becoming a young woman
about to step into the world
I don't want to go though, Daddy
I'm a little scared, you see
Because although I may look older
there's a little girl in me
And she wants to come and wake you up
when the morning's new
She wants to go sit on your lap
and get "lovins" from you
So lets keep this our secret
and no one else will know
That I am still a little girl
no matter how much I grow
And please don't be scared, Daddy
of how my life will be
'Cuz everything will be alright
(the little girl told me).
