Explain

What do I say to my Daughter?
Tell me how I explain?
That some days are bright full of sunshine
And others just darkened with rain
How do I comfort my daughter?
When her evening so horribly broken
Tell me the right words to say
Whatever I say is a token
I am supposed to protect her
I am the mother, you see
I didn’t watch her, I failed her
I couldn’t help her, not me
Why did you violate her evening?
Why smash your way into her car?
She was out with her girlfriends
She stopped for you on the tar
Why terrorize her for her belongings?
What would you have done?
If you’d managed to get out her car keys
Would it all have been fun?
What do I say to my Daughter?
When she can’t sleep for thinking her fate
She questions the good things I taught her
Now all she does is just hate
I’m here now, I am the mother
I will hold her, wipe away tears
It’s my job as her parent
I will chase all her fears
Do you know what’s it’s like for the parent?
Can you picture the scene?
When the phone rings and it’s my baby
All I can hear is her scream
I hope you’re bruised and now bleeding
I hope for you, you’re in pain
You messed with the wrong girls, you bastard
I hope on you, there’s a stain
I will tell her she was unlucky
Wrong time and the wrong place
I’ll help her get over your breath
Help her forget your close face
Go on with your life, you sad bastard
For now, you think life is fine
But one day, pain is your payment
I’ll be there, waiting in line
