Heart Of The Helpless
30 March, 2005
Author: Average Joe
This boy I've known for many years
Yet I've never learned his name
I've held his breath and been his voice
But to his love I have no claim
Did I feed his curious nature,
Have I left his temporal being in need?
Was I too forceful in my expectations,
Or was my very nature contrary to his creed?
I prefer the paved roads,
The way that's safe and sure
As opposed to the road that is unknown
But could be this broken heart's cure
Asking was that heart really broken,
Or was it mine that lacked compassion to see,
How this little boy was only doing his best
In his trying to live up to me?
