Was Not You

Author: Terrie*
like a little child
I run to the mail box
to see if I got a letter from you
my heart sinks
i got one from everyone else
but ...
not from you
I hear the phone ringing
I run to pick up the reciever
I'm thinkin' it has to be you
I answer
and my heart begins to cry
because the voice at the other end was
not you
I go lay myself down
from a long night at work
I say perhaps he will meet me in my dreams
I drift off to sleep
along came a dream
I held onto it real tight
I quickly woke up
as I noticed the embrace
was not one I knew
the man that meet me in my dreams..
was not you
