Wails Of His Sufferers
21 April, 2005

Deserted afar,
In a seemingly inescapable depressing pit,
Surrounded by lifeless bodies,
Appearing tortured and wretchedly.

That is where I lay,
Severely sickened within the clutches of this disease,
My skin flakes, and my body crumbles.
As my mind slowly deteriorates

Then I hear it,
Barely reaching the depths
As a mere whisper in my ear,
“Precede towards the light, my child
Only there will happiness appear.”

So, in that moment of deep despair
I reached out my wrinkly bone piercing hands
There I claw up each blood stained rock
Struggling intensely to the light radiant top

I drew near
Towards my well deserved blissfulness
Only one last conquering step and I’ve defeated him
Releasing the grip he has on my sanity.

Then a slight slip
An unexpected change of events
Perhaps the size of a pebble or brittle stone
Its impact immobilizes me,
Allowing the darkness to yet again engulf me entirely

I’m stuck, my strength bleeds dry
He now fully dominates the remnants of my mentality.
Distorting my final pure thoughts
While attempting to drown me beneath the waters of suicide

So, I struggle exhaustedly, but unable to sustain
I unwillingly etch my bloody name on depression’s wall
I gasp for my final breath, signalizing my long-suffering defeat.
As I close my eyes fearlessly, accepting my place amongst his cherished possessions.

And it is there that I rest my friends;
with him is where you’ll find me
Listen for me, not of my wails, but my prayers
My prayers for you my dear brothers and sisters
Given that I may be his latest victim, unfortunately I won’t be his last.
