Prophets Of The Modern Age
2 May, 2005
Author: Mark Spencer
Why does it always have to be
With prophets of the modern age,
When sharing spiritual wisdom,
Each claims to be the greatest sage?
It’s always the strongest message
That God has charged them to impart.
And it’s like a competition
To try and win the people’s heart.
Some think they are the only one
Who can show God’s children the way.
Like some modern day Messiah,
Who thinks they’ve come to save the day.
Have you known one to be humble?
They are the righteous ones you see.
They may be quick to shut you out,
If you should dare to disagree.
Of course, you are then the villain,
If you still won’t be converted.
And should you not accept their truth,
Then your thinking is perverted.
Are they teaching the word of God,
Or just some lesson of their own?
They don’t want the path they’ve chosen
To be a road they walk alone.
So beware these false Messiahs,
Preaching their gospel from a stage.
Don’t let yourself be led astray
By prophets of the modern age.
