The Truth Can Set You Free
5 May, 2005
Author: Emilee
They say the truth will set you free,
but what exactly does that mean to me?
A bird set free from its cage,
a person set free from their rage.
With all the lies left untold,
all untruths left to unfold.
How can the truth save a world like this,
where lies, deception, and sorrow mix?
The truth it is a funny thing,
it make you cry, it can make you sing.
Sometimes the truth gives you wings,
and brings you closer to your dreams.
Other times it hides away,
in the things that you don't always say.
They say the truth is always best,
with all your lies, would you pass the test?
While striving to be all you can be,
have you forgotten what can set you free?
Rid yourself of your chains,
of the lies you've carried all your days.
This world can be so unjust, you see,
but only the truth can set you free.

Angel in Tears (81.129.187.96) -- Thursday, May 5 2005, 06:40 pm Lies do sometimes help us, but the truth I always prefer to tell. This is because I find it extremely difficult to lie. Well, I hate the guilt eating me away after, so I guess I chose not to lie ,lol. I absolutely love this poem! Excellently written! |
