A Day At The Beach
14 May, 2005
Author: Holly
The tide’s coming in. It’s pulling us all.
But we can resist. We can resist.
Except one girl.
Oh how were they to know?
Oh how was she to know?
That fate wanted her dead.
(Those waves, they’d look lovely on you girl.)
(Wear that blue silk cloak, it can be your funeral outfit girl.)
(This is the chance you’ve always wanted.)
(Take it! Take it!)
The water washes her clean.
It takes away the pain.
Get her out the water!
Get her out the water!
(She’s too far under now.)
Help her! Help her!
(This is what she’s wanted for so long.)
(There’s nothing you can do.)
Is there nothing we can do?
I can’t swim!
I can’t go in!
I can’t save her…
(But the water is saving her.)
(Stay where you are, this isn’t your battle.)
What a waste! What a tragedy!
(We all have to go sometime.)
She’s got her whole life ahead of her!
(She didn’t want her life.)
She never said anything!
(You never listened.)
Oh Lord, there she is.
(She’s here, but she’s really gone.)
Lifeless…
(It’s better for her this way.)
(She finally did what she’s always wanted.)
Oh how was anyone to know?
------- Author's Notes -------
The pace of this one is different from any others I've written. It was kind of inspired from a Kate Bush song called Waking The Witch. |

Mike (82.35.78.155) -- Tuesday, May 17 2005, 06:28 pm Wow. This is one of your best poems, Holly. It reminds me of my favourite film, "Bang Bang, You're Dead". Towards the end, the main character argues with the voices in his head, about the same sort of thing. This poem was just amazing. |
