Memories Speak To Our Hearts
19 May, 2005
Author: Terrie*
what is a memory?
is it something ..
to place on the shelf?
with or without an end?
filled with things of yesterday?
with no today nor a tomorrow?
is it all those cards and letters he sent to me?
is a memory
a tear shedd or waitin' to be shedd?
a shadow in the dark or just darkness?
a whisper in the wind?
me without you
and that lump in my throat
that won't set me free
a mystery ?
dead or alive?
an empty box to put away
and fill up later?
a shattered heart, fragile from the start?
a desert without sand?
a wave splashed against a rock?
something lost at the bottom of the sea?
perhaps it's the wind
that carries the howl of a loved ones spirit?
something we touch and keep in our heart?
do we measure a memory by
a soul livin' without a heart?
a heart without a beat?
a lock without a key?
a sky without the sun the moon or the stars?
the earth without the sea, mountains and the trees?
a life without a heaven?
A memory doesn't
always have to be so sad?
------- Author's Notes -------
when I visit the cemetary I look all around from where I sit and I wonder how many memories speak? my husband is my only connection to yesterday's, today 's and tomorrow's memories ,I still hear the memory of the love in his heart speak to me |
