Stirling Castle

First mentioned in history around 1124

One of the most battle strategic placed castles in Scotland,
Stirling is set on the highest point of the Fourth.  It guards
the north-south and east-west routes across Scotland.
Many famous battles were fought here for the
independence of Scotland over English rule. Including
Robert Wallace's victory in 1297 and  Bruce's victory
in 1314.

Many changes over the years came due to wars
destruction or monarchs fancy.  Much of the castle
and royal palace still survives today
