Winter Winds

Approaching from the place of frost so chilling to the bone
Gathers up and heads along its course precisely known
Leaving wakes of frozen ice all things become encased
Three months long within this time so much is laid to waste

Skies above with blankets on the cumulus lays in wait
Preparing for its downward cast morphing into state
Above the land it moves so swift no power to be seen
Expanding out in instant time its colour changing green

Lightning strikes of massive charge exploding through the air
Countless amps of natural surge so brief with no compare
Sheets that flash their brilliant light and strobing to the eye
Come and go in random time as fast as sparrows fly

Howling winds with unseen force conquers every front
Upturned trunks and dwellings gone all to feel the brunt
Twisting into funnels and whirlwinds spinning fierce
Create the super speed for use in deadly darts that pierce

Falling snow and each unique the ground is covered white
Gently rests and spreads itself all the while so quiet
Mounting up and weighing in a tonne will soon be free
Sealing off all exit points escape is not to be

Retracting from the place of work this season comes to end
Preceeding its own remedy new life comes forth to mend
Until again next time arrives the beastly sons of cold
Whose ways are many each itself encroaching to take hold
